You can get an annual free report from any of the threemajor bureaus. If you have ever had credit, then there isa report on your borrowing and repaying at one of these bureaus- maybe all three. The Fair Reporting Act is a law sayingthat every person is entitled to receive one annual free creditreport once every twelve months from the bureaus. Annual reports are very important because they containall of the information about your history - not just forthe past year, but for at least 7 years. When you request anannual free report, the bureau is not allowed tocharge you for the first report. However, if you request morethan one report, then you have to pay for the others. There are many sites on the Internet that will charge you for acredit report. Therefore it is important to know that you do nothave to pay for this service. By analyzing your annual freecredit report once a year, you will have a clear idea of whatyour score is. Free annual reports will help youdetermine where your focus for the next year should be if youare looking to repair any bad items that appear on yourreport.
